Gina Genius

Whether she’s in the classroom, on the field, or at home, Gina Genius is there to help others learn something new everyday. In this book, Gina teaches about diabetes and the basics of diabetes management. Gina will even take the time to find out what you learned by asking the right questions!

Inside, the pages are interactive and informational. Great for any child or parent and easy to understand the basics.

I knew when I created this character that I wanted her name to be something memorable. I worked with many names and finally decided on "Gina Genius". The name was developed through ideas of intelligence and the ability to teach. After all, Gina is a genius.

Speaking of ideas...a lightbulb came to thought, literally. When making the logo for "Gina Genius", I altered the "i" of the typeface "HighlandGothicLightFLF". Of course this was the perfect typeface due to its new age style. When choosing the colors for the logo, they needed to be compatible, but not overpowering when placed on the chalkboard background; it also needed to go with the bright lightbulb, purple was best as it is complimentary.

I designed some bookmarks to help promote my book. A unique little feature was incorporated into the design; a lightbulb.
